Stay at the Oriana Hotel for Maltese hourly rooms in a prime location. There’s free Wi-Fi for guests, and the local area is brimming with beautiful beaches and a wide selection of restaurants. A little further afield the epic history of Malta can be explored, from the prehistoric past to World War Two defiance, with the Knights of Saint John along the way.
Range of Restaurants – The authentic taste of fantastic Serbian cuisine is yours to try at the nearby Familija Serbian Restaurant, or you can enjoy the traditional seaside treat of fish and chips at Fins & Gills Fish And Chips. Mediterranean fare with an emphasis on seafood is the order of the day at Da Rosi Restaurant, whilst Duo Restaurant offers fine dining and flawless service.
Malta National Aquarium – Delve beneath the waves to find out more about the creatures of the deep at the Malta National Aquarium. This modern wildlife centre features a tunnel which wends its way through an underwater world, allowing for great views of marine life such as sharks and other fish. There’s also a small reptile house with scaly denizens, and a restaurant for when you’ve finished admiring the aquatic delights.
Sun, Sea, and Sand – There’s a selection of nearby beaches from which to pick if you feel like lazing in the Mediterranean sunshine and working on your tan. One of the best is the Qawra Point Beach, which offers disabled access, and the opportunity to go snorkelling in clear waters where you can get up close with local marine wildlife.
Heroic Heritage – History buffs have plenty to explore in Malta, and if you want to go right back to the prehistoric era then head south from the day rooms to reach Ħaġar Qim, a hilltop temple dating all the way back to 3200 BC. There’s also more recent history at the Malta at War Museum, chronicling the story of the island’s participation in World War Two, which was so heroic the entire island was granted the George Cross by King George VI.
