Hotel Description

Situated close to the University of Florida, AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown’s guests can enjoy hourly rooms with dining and shopping options close at hand. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is nearby, as is the Hippodrome Theatre, and the outstanding and expansive Florida Museum of Natural History is a must-see for museum-goers. Within the hotel itself, the day rooms come with free Wi-Fi, there’s a fitness center to keep in shape, and a rooftop pool where you can cool off.

  • Range of Restaurants – Both American and Greek fare is on the menu at the informal surroundings of The Spot, including great Greek platters, extensive vegetarian options, and plentiful meat dishes. Excellent Vietnamese cuisine is yours to try at Vietnamese Grille, whilst fans of Tex-Mex can find what they’re after at Tijuana Flats. Sushi-2-Go University cooks up dumplings, egg rolls, and a variety of sushi rolls, all of great quality.

  • The Hippodrome Theatre – The Hippodrome Theatre makes its home in the historic Federal Building, and offers a selection of cultural attractions. There’s an art gallery to peruse and independent films are played, but perhaps the main draw is the plays that are hosted in this historically charming setting.

  • The Florida Museum of Natural History – The Florida Museum of Natural History lies to the southwest and probably has enough to fill a daycation by itself. The museum explores the development of human culture and history in Florida, Latin America, and the Caribbean and includes a Butterfly Rainforest dedicated to beautiful flora as well as the eponymous insects. There’s also man-made beauty nearby, with the global artwork exhibited at the Harn Museum of Art within walking distance.

  • Bivens Arm Nature Park – South of the hotel is the Bivens Arm Nature Park, an ideal place to take a constitutional walk. There’s a playground for children, trails down which to meander, and every chance of encountering wildlife from twittering birds to wandering deer.
