Just a short distance from downtown Portland and Portland International Airport, to which it offers a complimentary shuttle service, Best Western Inn at the Meadows is a convenient spot for day use rooms. There’s a wide selection of restaurants and golf courses by the hotel door, plus racing in both equine and gasoline formats. South is the heart of Portland, replete with all the attractions of a big city, from Oregon Zoo to the Witch’s Castle.
Global Menu – If you’re an aficionado of Asian cuisine then you may want to visit the family-owned Nom Nom Restaurant and Grill, which serves up both Vietnamese and Thai dishes and offers outdoor seating. Vegetarians or vegans can find just what they’re after at Flourish Plant-Based Kitchen, whilst sustainable sushi is the specialty of Bamboo Sushi. If you’ve never tried Ethiopian then you can do so now at Enat Kitchen Restaurant, which offers a relaxed atmosphere and classic dishes from east Africa.
Racing – Gearheads are in luck, with the Portland International Raceway close to the day rooms. There’s drag racing, car racing, and motocross if you like the sound of revving engines thrumming in your ears. But if you prefer your racing to come with four legs, there’s the historic venue of Portland Meadows, founded way back in 1946. Just as near to the hotel, there’s live racing on-track, off-track betting, and occasionally other events too.
Golf – Golfers have picked the right place to stay with a large number of courses to choose from in the local area. Colwood Golf Center has an 18 hole course, and a driving range if you need to work off some frustration. Plus there’s footgolf and, even better, the 19th hole is a pub.
Portland – The biggest city in Oregon has plenty of attractions to offer, including Oregon Zoo. This wildlife center has an emphasis on conservation, and is home to endangered residents including megafauna such as elephants and polar bears. There are also Chinese and Japanese gardens, art museums, historical sites, and the haunting intrigue of the Witch’s Castle.
