Boutique history meets downtown convenience at the Linden Row Inn. Old world charm and European style make this the ideal place to use as your home away from home in Richmond. There’s on-site dining and free Wi-Fi, plus a 2-mile local shuttle service that affords easy access to many of the attractions close at hand. There’s a wide range of museums, in addition to the Victorian estate and park of Maymont, all within reach from the day use rooms.
Diverse Dining – In addition to dining within the hotel itself, guests at the day rooms have a wide selection of culinary establishments in the vicinity to try. Seafood fans can opt for the cozy tavern atmosphere of The Hard Shell, which also offers steaks and a raw bar, or the refined surroundings of Bookbinder’s Seafood & Steakhouse, housed in a former tobacco warehouse. North Italian cuisine complemented by an extensive wine list is available at La Grotta Ristorante, whilst Wong Gonzalez serves up an idiosyncratic combination of Mexican and Asian fare (and there’s sports on TV for fans who want to keep an eye on the game).
Maymont – A short way west from the hotel door is Maymont, an estate dating back to the Victorian era. Its 100 acres include the historic Maymont House museum and a nature center, with wildlife exhibits. Formal gardens and an arboretum are relaxing places to wander, and there’s a petting zoo to help keep the kids amused.
Many Museums – Museum-goers are spoilt for choice, with one of the nearest being the American Civil War Museum. This museum examines the massive internal conflict from multiple perspectives, looking at things not only from the view of the North and South, but also African-Americans. Admirers of art will want to visit the nearby Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the galleries of which include everything from modern works to antiquities, and Fabergé eggs. Those into science, especially if traveling with kids, will enjoy paying the child-centric Science Museum of Virginia a visit. The interactive exhibits allow for a hands-on approach to learning more about animals, the human body, and the natural world.
