Hotel Union Square was built over a century ago, and to this day is in an ideal spot for shopping and restaurants. Day guests can enjoy top class sport at Oracle Park, the various museums of the city, and the many attractions of Golden Gate Park.
Great Restaurants – Healthy eaters should try out Onsen Bath & Restaurant, where Japanese fare including tea and sake is served in the café of a modern spa. If you like your Japanese food with a side order of karaoke visit YamaSho. A mix of upscale seafood and underwater themed décor can be found at Farallon, with other seafood options including waterfront restaurants Angler, and Waterbar Restaurant.
Golden Gate Park – To the west of the hotel is the extensive Golden Gate Park. Hikers can walk the trails for some relaxing exercise amidst soaring redwoods. There are a number of museums such as the California Academy of Sciences, a natural history museum where day visitors can find a planetarium and aquarium. The park is also home to the city’s botanical gardens, and a golf course.
Oracle Park – Sports fans can spectate Major League Baseball at Oracle Park, the home ground of the San Francisco Giants. If the Giants aren’t playing, Oracle Park also hosts other sporting events such as soccer, football, and rugby, as well as concerts.
Many Museums – To the north is the Exploratorium, a hands-on science museum brimming with interactive exhibits to engage visitors young and old alike. If you’re more into military matters, try the Maritime Museum, where tens of thousands of items are exhibited to commemorate the maritime history of the area. The city is also home to the Walt Disney Family Museum, exploring the entertainment industry icon and featuring original artwork.
