1 day use hotel in Vancouver, Canada

So, you’re planning on enjoying a day use hotel room in Vancouver and wondering how to pass your free time. Here’s a rundown on some accessible adventures to explore Vancouver!

What to See and Do with a Day Room in Beautiful Vancouver, Canada

• The Vancouver Aquarium – The Aquarium is just a quick bus or cab ride from most of the day use hotels in downtown Vancouver. Located in Stanley Park, this wonderful sea-life venue will introduce you to the local aquatic life that resides in and around the Pacific Northwest, and a few creatures from elsewhere. A couple of the favorites include sea lions and the playful, always entertaining sea otters. And, if you’re planning on bringing your family along, the kids will love the underwater-world exhibits.
• Dining Out – There’s nothing quite like a gourmet lunch in one of Vancouver’s premier restaurants. The downtown core has some of the best restaurants on the west coast, offering up everything from prime Canadian beef to fresh-caught, “by local fisherman,” seafood and fish. A tourist favorite that has a bird’s-eye view of the city, ocean, and the mountains beyond—"Top of Vancouver Revolving Restaurant”—tops the Harbour Centre Tower.
• Capilano Suspension Bridge – This little excursion takes a scene right out of an Indiana Jones movie, but if you have the time and transportation means to get across the Lion’s Gate Bridge and up into North Vancouver, you can do it in a day. The bridge is as advertised: a 460-foot-long suspension bridge that can be walked across, 230 feet above the Capilano River.
• Gastown – A trip to Vancouver would hardly be complete without a visit to the famous district of Gastown, the original core settlement that became Vancouver. There, you’ll find heritage buildings, a variety of restaurants, and a plethora of retail shops all within twelve-city blocks. It was the first downtown core of Vancouver and is steeped in the history and tradition of the city.

Seven Vancouver Facts You Should Know:

1. Gastown is home to roughly 108,000 residents, making it one of the most densely populated areas in the lower mainland.
2. The Great Fire of Vancouver nearly destroyed the entire city when it was just two months old, leaving only three buildings standing and affecting both of the newspaper operations for over a month.
3. Contrary to pretty much every other North American city, Vancouver doesn’t have any freeways, mostly thanks to local activism!
4. Hidekazu Tojo was working as a sushi chef in Vancouver in the early ‘70s when he invented the California roll.
5. At 500 feet (roughly 150 meters) high, the 138-acre Queen Elizabeth Park is the highest point in Vancouver proper, offering sweeping views of the city, water and mountains.
6. Since 1898, the ‘Nine O’Clock Gun’ has mostly fired nightly without a hitch. An old cannon was initially loaded with a pound and a half of gunpowder and shot without a projectile in Stanley Park as a means of reliable time-measuring for ships and clock setting.
7. 8 West Pender Street in Vancouver, aka the Sam Kee Building, bears the distinction of the shallowest commercial building in the world with a ground-floor depth of just 4 feet, eleven inches!
