Dania Beach, Florida

Small but perfectly formed, Dania Beach has a number of great restaurants for day visitors to recharge their batteries, and opportunities for recreation ranging from fishing in the sea to visiting the casino. For more, check out our guide below.

Your Dania Beach Daycation Suggestions

  • Restaurants – The Rustic Inn Crabhouse is a seafood establishment that has been serving its signature garlic crab dish for over six decades, whilst fans of Cuban cuisine are catered for at the family-run Little Cuban Café. There’s also great Italian fare from Mundi’s, or Tuscany Caffè, and American cooking from the nautical-themed Historic Dockers.
  • Casino – The Casino at Dania Beach is the place to find out if Lady Luck traveled with you. As well as the heart-pounding excitement of gambling, you can also check out the lesser-known game of jai alai at one of the USA’s biggest frontons.
  • Fishing Fun – Keen anglers can see what’s biting at the Dania Beach Pier. There’s a beautiful ocean view to enjoy whilst lazily watching the world go by, and, when you’re done, there’s the option of having a picnic or popping into the nearby seafood restaurant.
  • Park Life – Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park is a child-friendly park that offers a range of activities. There’s swimming, fishing, and diving for visitors who care to partake, and you might bump into the park’s resident sea turtles and birds. Of course, if you just want to relax, where better than amidst the mix of greenery and sea views?

A Quartet of Quintessential Dania Beach Facts

  1. The settlement dates back to the 19th century, when it was known as Modello.
  2. Dania Beach was simply called Dania until 1998. The name ‘Dania’ is thought to have come about because most of the inhabitants were of Danish descent.
  3. In 1926, Dania (as it was then called) left the City of Hollywood and became its own city. This separation means that parts of Dania Beach boundaries today are not continuous, with islands of isolated territory east and north.
  4. The antique shops in downtown have given the city the nickname “The Antique Capital of the South.”
