1. Woodrow Wilson is the only president buried in Washington D.C. (Washington National Cathedral).

3. There are marble bathtubs in the Capitol Building because, at the time of their installation in 1865, senators lived in boarding houses with no running water.
4. D.C. loves its wine! Citizens here drink the most wine per capita in the U.S.
5. Washington D.C. is built on a grid system of streets of letters or numbers but has no ‘J- Street’. At the time of D.C.’s development, the letter “J” was often interchangeable with “I” — thus including both letters would have either been redundant or confusing. Sorry J!
6. Baseball’s ‘seventh-inning stretch’ began in D.C.! In 1889, President William Taft was attending the World Series and got up to stretch his legs out of respect for the President every other fan in the stadium stood with him, and the tradition was born!
