What are night stays on HotelsByDay?
Yannis Moati, Founder and CEO at HotelsByDay launched night stays to cover the full 24-hour travel cycle. After more than ten years selling day-use hotel rooms, the company added traditional overnight bookings at HotelsByDay at Night. Day stays are booked on HotelsByDay.com. Overnight stays are booked at night.hotelsbyday.com.
Eleven years ago, we started with a simple idea: a hotel room shouldn’t only be useful at night.
Sometimes you need a room for a few hours during the day. Sometimes you need the night. And over the years, it became clear that we wanted to be able to serve both.
So we launched night stays.
Here are the five biggest reasons why.
№5. Hotels had overnight rooms available
For more than ten years, we heard a similar message from hotel partners.
Some loved the idea of day stays but didn’t always have the staffing to manage additional room turns during the day.
Then they’d say, “But nights? We have rooms available.”
We heard it often enough to pay attention.
Night stays opened the door to work with more hotels and give our guests access to more places to stay.
№4. Daycations naturally turn into staycations
You arrive at a resort in the morning, spend the afternoon by the pool, have a great meal and start thinking:
Why leave?
For years, the answer was unsatisfactory. Your day stay was ending, and we couldn’t offer the night.
We wanted guests to have another option.
A daycation doesn’t always have to end when the sun goes down. Sometimes you want to stay a little longer and turn it into a weekend escape.
№3. We always wanted to complete the 24-hour cycle
Hotels have traditionally been built around one thing: the overnight stay.
HotelsByDay challenged that by showing that hotel rooms can be useful during the hours in between, too.
Changing long-established hospitality habits takes time, but we’ve spent more than a decade proving that travelers want flexibility.
Day stays gave us one slice of the clock pie.
Night stays complete the other.
Now we can serve guests throughout the full 24-hour travel cycle, a very first in the travel industry!
№2. Our day ended at 6 p.m. Your travel day didn’t.
This was one of the biggest gaps we wanted to fix.
Our day-stay timebands generally ended by 6 p.m. So when someone needed a room later in the evening, we couldn’t help.
Maybe your flight lands at 10 p.m. and your next one leaves early the next morning.
You don’t need a week at a hotel. You just need a bed, a shower and a few hours of sleep.
Those are exactly the kinds of travelers we’ve always wanted to help.
Now we can.
№1. Daycations. Staycations. Vacations.
This is the bigger vision.
Sometimes you need a hotel for a few hours.
Sometimes you want a hotel weekend away.
Sometimes you’re heading off on a full vacation.
We want to be part of all of it.
Daycations. Staycations. Vacations.
Book your stay through HotelsByDay or HotelsByDay at Night, with more flexibility to fit your plans.
And judging by the bookings already coming in, you were ready for it too. Find out more on how it works.
For years, your trip could start with us during the day.
Now it doesn’t have to end at sunset.
FAQs
What’s the difference between a day stay and a night stay?
An overnight stay includes a full-night booking, while a day stay gives you a room for a few hours during the daytime (for example, from 10 am to 5 pm). Overnight stays are booked on HotelsByDay at Night while day stays are booked on HotelsByDay.
What should I do during a late-night layover?
A hotel room can be a practical option during a late-night layover. If you want a place to rest between flights, an overnight booking gives you a room to sleep in. Before booking, confirm the check-in window and location.

Yes. You can use HotelsByDay at Night to book an overnight hotel stay for a staycation, depending on availability.

No. At the moment, night stays and day stays must be booked separately on HotelsByDay at Night and HotelsByDay. If you book a day stay and a night stay on the same dates, you may be required to check in and check out separately, and change rooms, at the discretion of the hotel.
