Where to Sleep, Shower, or Relax at Manila Airport (NAIA), Including Terminal 3

manila ninoy aquino international airport

Where can you sleep, shower, or relax during a long layover at Manila’s NAIA airport? Terminal 3 has The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa, open 24 hours with sleeping capsules, private rooms, and showers, though it sits before security. Lounges in other terminals have seating but no beds. For a private bed and bathroom, book a day-use hotel nearby.

NAIA handled over 52 million passengers in 2025, setting a new record. It’s one of Southeast Asia’s busiest airports. The terminals offer limited options, but Terminal 3 connects via an air-conditioned walkway to Newport World Resorts. There you’ll find hotels, dining, and things to do without needing a car. A government-backed transit tour launched in January 2026 also lets layover passengers explore Manila’s historic sites on a guided four-hour trip.

This guide covers four parts of a great NAIA layover:

Sleep: where to get a real bed, from capsules to day-use hotel rooms (also called day rooms or day stays)

Shower: where to freshen up inside the airport and nearby

Relax: lounges, spas, and quiet spots to unwind

Explore: how to see Manila, even on a tight connection

Your NAIA Layover: What You Need to Know First

Terminal Overview

NAIA has four terminals. They are not connected airside. This is the most important thing to know about Manila’s airport. If your next flight leaves from a different terminal, you’ll need to clear immigration, exit the building, and re-enter at the other terminal. Plan ahead.

Terminal 1 handles most international airlines.

Terminal 2 is the Philippine Airlines hub.

Terminal 3 is the largest and best-equipped. It has the most food options, The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa, and a walkway to Newport City’s hotel area.

Terminal 4 mostly serves domestic budget airlines.

Can You Leave the Airport?

Yes. If you’re from a visa-free country (including the US, EU, Australia, Canada, and most ASEAN nations), you can enter the Philippines for up to 30 days with no visa.

If your country requires a visa, you can apply for a transit visa (Section 9b) that allows stays up to 72 hours. Either way, you’ll go through standard immigration on arrival.

Make sure you fill out the eTravel form online before you land. It’s required for all arrivals.

NAIA Under New Management

NAIA is now run by the New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC), a private group led by San Miguel Corp. They took over in September 2024 under a PHP 170.6 billion deal. Changes are already showing: biometric e-gates at Terminal 3, faster Wi-Fi (50–60 Mbps, peaking at 115 Mbps), and on-time rates of 83–88% during busy periods. The airport is being upgraded to handle 62 million passengers, up from 35 million.

Getting Between Terminals

You can take a free shuttle bus between terminals (though schedules aren’t always reliable), the UBE Express NAIA Loop, or a Grab ride.

If you’re flying in and out of Terminal 3, you’re in luck. Newport City is a short walk across the Runway Manila bridge. No car needed.

NAIA Terminal 3 Guide: Layout, Airlines, Food, and Getting Around

NAIA Terminal 3 is the newest and largest terminal at Manila’s airport. It opened in 2008 and has four levels, 24 gates, and 140 check-in counters, according to this Terminal 3 overview. It handles both domestic and international flights, and it is the only terminal with a walkway to Newport City.

Airlines. Cebu Pacific flies from Terminal 3, along with a mix of international carriers. Airline assignments at NAIA change, so check the terminal on your booking confirmation before you travel. You can also see a list of airlines by NAIA terminal.

Food. Terminal 3 has the most food choices at NAIA, from quick stops like Jollibee and McDonald’s to coffee shops. A Mezzanine Food Hall opened in October 2025.

What’s inside Terminal 3 for a layover:

  • The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa for capsules, private rooms, and showers
  • PAGSS Premium Lounge for pay-per-use seating
  • The Runway Manila bridge to Newport City hotels, restaurants, and spas

Where Can You Sleep During a NAIA Layover?

Your options at NAIA are the sleeping capsules at Wings in Terminal 3 or a day-use hotel nearby. Airport lounges have seating but no beds. Terminals 1 and 2 have no sleeping facility, so travelers there need a nearby hotel.

Does NAIA Terminal 3 Have Sleeping Pods?

Yes. The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa on Level 4 of Terminal 3 has sleeping capsules, twin rooms, and a family room. It is open 24 hours, and 7.5-hour stays start at PHP 1,800 as of October 2026. It is on the public side, so use it before you clear security and immigration.

Stays include shower access, a hygiene kit, Wi-Fi, a meal or refreshments, and luggage storage within set limits. You can book online at Wings.

Best for: budget travelers who don’t want to leave the terminal. Capsules are small, divided only by curtains, and not soundproofed.

Is There a Hotel Inside NAIA Terminal 3?

There is no full-service hotel inside the Terminal 3 building. The closest sleeping option is The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa, which has capsules and private rooms on Level 4, before security. Full hotels are in Newport City, a short walk across the Runway Manila bridge. If you want a full bed and a private bathroom, a day-use hotel in Newport City is the better fit.

Lounges in NAIA Terminal 3

Terminal 3 has several lounges, but only one has beds.

Day-use hotels give you a real bed, a private bathroom, and a quiet room, booked for a block of hours during the day instead of a full night. HotelsByDay is a booking platform built for this.

Terminal 3 makes it easy. The Runway Manila bridge is a 220-meter, air-conditioned, 24-hour walkway that connects T3 straight to Newport City. The walk takes about 10 minutes, up to 15 with bags. No taxi, no traffic. You can search day use rooms near Manila airport and book a stay in minutes.

Not sure how day-use bookings work? Here’s a quick guide.

Where to Shower and Freshen Up

Sometimes all you need is a hot shower and a few minutes of quiet. Here are your options, from basic to best.

Inside the Terminal

The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa is the best shower option inside Terminal 3. Showers come with any room or capsule booking. Some lounges, such as the PAGSS Premium Lounge, may also have showers, so confirm before you go. Expect possible waits during busy hours and basic supplies.

Outside the Terminal

If you’re at Terminal 3, the Newport City hotels across the Runway Manila bridge have private bathrooms. These are usually included with a day-use room booking. It’s the most comfortable shower option if you have time to step outside.

Where to Relax During a NAIA Layover

Spa and Massage

The Wings Transit Hotel & Spa in Terminal 3 offers massage and spa services alongside its sleep capsules and showers. It’s the easiest option if you don’t want to leave the terminal.

Newport World Resorts, a short walk from T3 via the Runway Manila bridge, has several spa options including Quan Spa and Island Spa. If you’ve booked a day room, you can combine a massage with your downtime.

Quiet Spaces

NAIA doesn’t have marked quiet zones, but the Wings Transit Hotel & Spa is the closest thing to one inside the terminal. Outside, a day room gives you a private, soundproofed space to decompress between flights.

Dining and Entertainment

Newport World Resorts has over 50 restaurants, a casino, a shopping mall, and the Newport Performing Arts Theater, all within walking distance of Terminal 3. It’s easy to fill a few hours without rushing or dealing with Manila traffic.

Can you leave the airport during a layover? Yes, and in 2026, Manila is making it easier than ever.

The DOT Transit Tour Program (Launched January 2026)

The Philippine Department of Tourism launched its first Transit Tour Program in January 2026. It’s made for travelers with layovers of eight hours or more. You get a guided, four-hour trip with two route choices:

Morning Route, Culture & Heritage: Intramuros (Manila’s historic walled city) and the National Museum.

Afternoon Route, Leisure & Entertainment: Okada Manila and Solaire Resort in Pasay and Parañaque.

Cost: $50 per person. That covers a 49-seat air-conditioned bus, a DOT guide, entrance fees, travel insurance, a police escort, and light snacks.

How to book: Through the LovePH Tourism website, Philippine Airlines, or at the Transit Tour desks at NAIA Terminals 1 and 3.

Who can join: You must be from a visa-free country (or hold a valid Philippine visa), carry only carry-on bags, and have a connecting flight from the same terminal. Tours run Friday through Sunday.

DIY Exploring Near Terminal 3

If the transit tour doesn’t fit your schedule, you have good options on your own.

Newport World Resorts is walkable from T3 via the Runway Manila bridge. It has seven hotel brands, 50-plus restaurants (including the Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, which opened in 2024), a casino, and a shopping mall.

Mall of Asia is about 15 minutes away by Grab if you want a bigger outing.

Watch Out for Traffic

The Binondo–Intramuros Bridge (a China-aid bridge project) in Manila, Philippines, spanning the Pasig River between Binondo and Intramuros.

Manila is one of Asia’s most congested cities. The 2025 TomTom Traffic Index found that drivers in Metro Manila lost about 143 hours to traffic that year. That’s nearly six full days. It takes roughly 28 minutes to cover just 10 kilometers. Things get much worse during evening rush, especially on Fridays.

If you’re going beyond Newport City, give yourself plenty of extra time and skip Friday evenings. Download the Grab app before you land. It’s the main ride-hailing app in the Philippines.

Manila’s Growing Food Scene

The Philippines will host the 2026 UN Tourism World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism, a first for the country. Manila’s food scene gained global notice when the MICHELIN Guide arrived in October 2024, listing 108 spots including 9 starred restaurants.

Logistics: Wi-Fi, Luggage, SIM Cards, and Money

Wi-Fi

NAIA’s free Wi-Fi got a big upgrade in 2024. Speeds now hit 50–60 Mbps, with peaks up to 115 Mbps. Sessions last three hours.

For mobile data outside the airport, grab a prepaid SIM card from the Globe or Smart kiosks in the arrivals area. They’re cheap and useful for Grab and maps.

Luggage Storage

Luggage storage inside NAIA is limited and varies by terminal. If you book a day-use hotel room, you can leave your bags in the room while you explore. Many Newport City hotels will also hold bags after checkout.

Money & Payments

The Philippines still runs mostly on cash, especially for street food, small shops, and tricycle rides. ATMs are in all terminals and Newport City. Currency exchange counters are at each terminal, though rates are usually better outside the airport. Credit cards work at hotels, malls, and restaurants.

eTravel Form

Everyone entering or leaving the Philippines must fill out the eTravel form at etravel.gov.ph up to 72 hours before their flight. It’s free, takes about five minutes, and gives you a QR code for immigration.

Sample Layover Plans
