LAX (Los Angeles Airport)

One of the busiest airports in the world, LAX is located by the coast close to Los Angeles’ numerous world-famous attractions. The city is renowned for its culture and entertainment, and there are a variety of studio tours, the Hollywood Sign and Walk of Fame for silver screen enthusiasts to enjoy. With plenty of day hotels peppering the area, history buffs can visit the unique La Brea Tar Pits and the more scientifically inclined scour the heavens at the Griffith Observatory.

Your LAX Day Stay Guide

  • Food, Glorious Food – There’s a fantastically diverse selection of restaurants from which to choose, including Greek cuisine courtesy of Aliki’s Greek Taverna, Mexican morsels made by Mariella’s Tacos, and aviation-themed steakhouse fare from The Proud Bird Food Bazaar & Events Center, which offers champagne for brunch and views of planes landing at LAX. If those don’t make your stomach rumble other options include seafood, Thai, Indian, Japanese, vegan, Malaysian, Mediterranean, and more.
  • The La Brea Tar Pits and Museum – Travel through time to the ancient world of American megafauna, when long extinct giants roamed the Earth. The unique La Brea Tar Pits are an Ice Age fossil excavation site where animals including mammoths, dire wolves, and a saber-toothed cat became trapped in and preserved by the tar.
  • The Stars of Hollywood – When visiting the Entertainment Capital of the World there are plenty of one-of-a-kind attractions including the Hollywood Sign and Walk of Fame, Disneyland Park, and Universal Studios, with many more from which to choose. If you prefer your stars to be celestial rather than celebrity, visit the Griffith Observatory to explore the heavens and catch a great view of the cityscape too.
  • Marine Marvels – The Battleship USS Iowa Museum is a retired navy warship transformed into a child-friendly museum featuring tours, live performances, and exhibits. Day visitors also have the choice of which aquarium to visit, with the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium close to the USS Iowa, and the Aquarium of the Pacific a little further east.
