Hotel Amenities

Hotel Description

The Roseate Reading hotel provides day use rooms dripping with luxury, from Italian glass beads that comprise chandeliers to vaulted ceilings and cornice mouldings. The amenities you would expect, such as free Wi-Fi, on-site dining, and a fitness centre, are all provided, as is the less common facility of a private cinema. Within walking distance there are more restaurants, as well as ruins dating back almost a thousand years, and Reading Museum.

Neighborhood

  • Diverse Dining – Guests staying in the hourly rooms have culinary convenience by way of on-site dining with a multitude of further options close at hand. Greek treats are on the menu at Tasty Greek Souvlaki, or you can try the contemporary and classic fare served up alongside an extensive selection of wine and beer at Valpy Street Bar & Bistro. If you’re gluten-free you can find light bites to suit your diet at Nibsy’s Coffee Shop, whilst refined Thai cuisine is on offer in the stylish surroundings of Bolan Thai Restaurant.

  • Reading Abbey Ruins – A short walk east of the hotel is the evocative site of the Reading Abbey Ruins. Founded back in the early 12th century in the reign of Henry I, the abbey’s remains are a haunting reminder of England’s long history and the religious conflicts throughout the centuries. The remains include a garden, pilgrim dormitory, and a gateway.

  • Reading Museum – Just as close to the hotel door, but to the west, Reading Museum displays artefacts from around the world, with the full-size replica of the Bayeux Tapestry a popular exhibit, alongside Roman relics. Entry is free to this museum dedicated to local history and the natural environment.

  • Forbury Gardens – Closer still to the hotel is Forbury Gardens Public Park, a tranquil place to rest, relax, and unwind. The Maiwand Lion statue is an impressive and imposing sight, as is the memorial cross of Henry I, erected in the 20th century to remember the king who founded Reading Abbey.
